Sankofa House, counselling and wellbeing, has a team of counsellors who provide independent face-to-face, online and group counselling services.
Our practice has been designed to create a sense of calm as you enter. Soft lighting, candles, relaxing furnishings and soothing music transport you to a mindfully present state.
Together we have designed a space that we love, that acts as our home away from home. We hope that you will enjoy the space that we have created to serve you.
We are located at 39 Howard Street in Nambour, within easy walking distance to the Nambour CBD, train station and shopping centre.
We are on the lookout for passionate counsellors, social workers or allied health clinicians to join our community-minded practice. There are space options available at Sankofa House.
Sankofa (SAHN-koh-fah) – A Twi word from the Akan Tribe of Ghana that loosely translates to, “go back and get it.” Its literal translation comes from the Akan proverb, "Se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenkyiri," meaning, "It is not taboo to go back for what you forgot (or left behind)." Sankofa is a phrase that encourages learning from the past to inform the future, reaching back to move forward, and lifting as we climb.
